Emily Bonenfant

CA Apprenticeship Coordinator

Emily joined the Chef Ann Foundation team in February 2024 and serves as the organization’s Coordinator of California Apprenticeship. In this role, she supports individuals participating in California’s Healthy School Food Pathways (HSFP) Apprenticeship program, a nine-month Workforce Development program for school food professionals.

Emily joined the Chef Ann Foundation team in February 2024 and serves as the organization’s Coordinator of California Apprenticeship. In this role, she supports individuals participating in California’s Healthy School Food Pathways (HSFP) Apprenticeship program, a nine-month Workforce Development program for school food professionals.

Emily’s previous experiences as a Farm to School Educator and Program Coordinator for a food access and farming nonprofit have given her a solid foundation in food systems work. She believes that schools transitioning to scratch cooking and local sourcing is a key step in getting our nation’s food systems to be more sustainable. Emily graduated from Tulane University with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and International Development. 

Outside of work, you can find Emily admiring wildflowers on her hikes, reading or preparing meals with her friends.

Ensure that school food professionals have the resources, funding and support they need to provide fresh, healthy, delicious, cook from scratch meals that support the health of children and our planet.

Why School Food Matters

American kids start their life-path in K–12 schools where they learn the skills necessary to thrive & meet their potential. While the country debates the best ways to teach them math, science & English, we spend little to no time on food & nutrition.
